Subject: Bedding for Sale!

Hi everyone Lisa from SOS here. Need bedding for your lovable fuzzies? I make it! I make hammocks and sleep sacks and sell it as a set for $15. They are made out of cotton material. Unfortunately, the design is my choice, but it's usually a pretty color or seasonal print. Right now I have St. Patrick's Day material and Eastery colors. All proceeds goes to SOS.

You can pay via paypal ferretshelterfund@hotmail.com or send money to:

Lisa Williams
19 Storms Pl.
Haskell, NJ 07420

Check out SOS's new website address: http://www.supportourshelters.org/

Every donation helps... even ONE dollar. So send a dollar to SOS or your local shelter today : ).

Interested in a ferret club in NJ? Check out www.metroferret.org I'm also a proud member of SOS and Kouri's Fan Club!

[P.S.] One more thing about the bedding sets!

If you are paying via paypal please indicate you want bedding and don't forget to put your address down so I know where to send it.

Lisa and my fabulous five

ADOPT ME

The following are some of the ferrets up for adoption now. We are really crowded and need to find homes for them ASAP.

Oscar (m) & Asia (f). 1.5 Y.O. pair, healthy, playful and very sweet.

Luna (f) & Chewy (m). 1.5 Y.O. pair, healthy, playful nippers.

Nicholas & Babyface. 14-month-old, males, healthy and very playful.

Bandit & Dusty... 16 month old males, healthy and very playful.

Otter & Spunky. Otter is 2 Y.O., Spunky is 1 Y.O., both males, very loving and playful.

The shelter is overflowing with ferrets and the above have come in over the last 3 months and in need of new, loving homes now. They are younger and need more than the shelter can offer. They are well socialized and get along well with other ferrets.

As of yesterday's rescue, we have 80 ferrets which is really up there. We have adopted out 12 ferrets over the last 3 months, placed owner to approved applicant... 13 ferrets, and have 6 (2 pairs and 2 singles) positive adoptions to take place this week, and another possible, single adoption. As you can see, ferrets come in much faster than they go out. If you have room for another one or two in your hearts and homes, please fill out an adoption form at: http://www.ferretguardian.org today.

All the female breeder ferrets except one (scheduled friday for spay) are spayed, all shots and ready for adoption. Remember, they are not descented and FGRH does not want them descented due to future health problems which this may cause.

However, they are not "poofing" (spraying) near as much. The "poofing" mostly happens when they are scared/startled, fighting or having a bad dream. Their temperament has really mellowed with little to no biting, just play nipping. (Thanks Pam & Eric) They are also very social now and get along well with other ferrets. All are very healthy and playful, but if smell (the poofing) bothers you, these ferrets are not for you. If you are not familiar with the smell of poofing, you are more than welcome to visit one of these ferrets at our Statesville, NC shelter. (No nose plugs allowed!)

Troy Lynn's Challenge (TLC for short) is to earn donations for the Utah Ferrets - a situation that was created by a ferret collector who did NOT give the hundreds of ferrets in her home the proper care ...

Raven says to visit the Faces of Innocence Page! All these ferrets had to be adopted out, transported all over the country, and seen by vets. Most of them made it ... see Kouri's Fan Club "Faces of the Innocent" page [and hey, who's that cute but sad looking little ferret face? why, that is the Extreme Weezils' very own RAVEN ] as well as Kouri's Utah Ferret Rescue Page for more exact details.

One of the things that seems to help ME find the extra money to donate to such a worthy cause [any ferret cause = worthy cause!] is to see what I can actually SAVE by not buying certain things I really do not need, then taking that money at the end of a week, month, whichever and donating it to a little fuzzy that just wants a chance....

Most of the money will go to assorted surgeries, vaccinations that they all need, testing, and other medical care. Unfortunately money can't buy them love, but it can sure get them healthy so they are ready for a mom and/or dad!

Anyone can donate to SOS and mark their donations for what they want it applied to even if not the Utah Fuzzies. The TLC also includes raising [did someone say RAISINS?] funds for whoever may need it through SOS, now and in the future.

Troy Lynn says, "O.k. for giving up - Personally I like Dr. Pepper so once a week I purchase a 6 pack of Dr. Pepper (bottles) that runs about $4.00 so instead of purchasing the Dr. Pepper this week, I donated $5 to SOS.

I sometimes eat lunch out during the week. Instead of paying $6 for a meal at a restaurant, I eat at a lower cost fast food (usually Mexican) location for around $3.00. If I do that twice it makes up the $5 difference.

I spend my leisure (yeah, right) time at home but for others that go out for supper or drinks, they could skip a drink or two and that could be their $5 for donating.

Or if someone goes to the movie on a weekly basis, skip it one week and there is the $5 donation. Or if they buy popcorn and a drink at the movies skip that. :-)

There are many ways to save a bit here and there such as when doing grocery shopping, choose the on-sale items or the lower cost brands. Many times they are just as good as the name brands. Watch for buy one get one free sales at the grocery stores and purchase those items, if they are the ones you use/eat. Two for the price of one! Or skip the specialty bread for a lower price one. Check out dollar stores as they sell food products too and cleaning supplies at much less cost than grocery stores."

Other ideas from us at the Extreme Weezils:

Stay away from sodas, juices, and teas purchased in stores. If you must drink tea, make your own by boiling a huge pot of water, plopping in about five tea bags, let it do it's thing, then allow to cool, pour into a large container, and place in the fridge for Homemade Iced Tea!

Each soda costs about half a dollar, and these designer waters, teas, and juices that are literally nothing but water plus sugar [I am not kidding - read the labels ... Purified water, high fructose corn syrup... that means WATER AND SUGAR] cost almost TWO DOLLARS each!

That means if you drink your own water [filtered, chilled, placed in portable containers] or tea from home for JUST ONE WEEK, you can have up to FOURTEEN DOLLARS to send to S.O.S. That is just over FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH... WOW!
