Kids and Pets This is the preferred spot and odor remover of the Extreme Weezils! We have purchased large amounts of this product directly from their web site ...Safe for ALL the babies in your household - ferret, cat, human, etc. - Kids and Pets is found in each room that the Extreme Weezils have access to in our house. Since moving into a large house from a small apartment, the ferrets have found true freedom, including the Freedom to Poop where they happen to find themselves. Marshall Farms Bi-Odor This miraculous product actually DOES what it says it will do: reduce the smell of ferret poop and pee from the inside out! I was quite skeptical at first, but gave it a try, and WOW - WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The active ingredients are proteins that bind with ammonia, urea, nitrogen, etc. and appear to be as safe as is claimed on the bottle. Add a few drops of Bi-Odor to your ferret food, water, and/or snacks - In a couple of days at the most you will REALLY notice!![]() Ferret Tents
Hey all you Ferrety Campers out there! Wholeheartedly endorsed and extensively used by all six Extreme Weezils ... These fleece tents look cute AND provide a fuzzy resting place for your ferrets. You will want to crawl in WITH them.CareFresh Bedding The Extreme Weezils USED to have this product spread liberally over their cage floor, until we discovered towels. Now we just take the towel and wash it, avoiding the mess, the clumps, the smell, etc. However, this product is EXCELLENT to use in dig boxes! See the Extreme Weezils' Ferret Fun Pages to read more about this...![]() ChickenStix Just like chewy bones for dogs, ChickenStix are favored by Raven, Sasha, Blitz, and sometimes Bandit ... made by N-Bone, they are found at The Ferret Store's online shopping site. We cut them in halves or fourths before doling them out. It is hilarious watching little Sasha or Raven walk around with half a Chicken Stix in their little ferrety mouths - like they are smoking little cigars ....ChewWeasel
This ingenious little combination snack/chew toy is fun for ferrets to chew on, carry around and hide, and eat. It seems that they taste better if one of the other ferrets near you has one. It must be so, as that is when the Chew Star is most popular, and the ferrets play almost a snack relay with stars!Foamy Fries Relatively new on the ferret treat scene, Foamy Fries smell like maple syrup, have the consistency of soft foam rubber, and are shaped like - what else - fries. Sometimes our Extreme Weezils love them, sometimes they do not care for them.
Chewy Stars Similar to Chew Weasels, but somewhat softer in texture and not as many star points, these come in more of a variety of flavors - some more popular than others with the Extreme Weezils.
![]() Meat Treats Despite our interests in providing a natural meat snack to our ferrets, the Extreme Weezils had other thoughts. Not only did they turn their nose up at these regardless of our efforts to the contrary, but they almost acted insulted when offered them. Fortunately, the cats sort of liked them, so it wasn't a total waste of money.FERRET TOYS
PetCo matte - colored (yellow or red) ping - pong balls Jingly ball with yarn tail (handmade!) ... This was given to us by the same people providing the handmade hammock and afghan after we donated money for a ferret to get adrenal surgery ... They all chase the ball end AND the string end! Raven and Bandit especially go nuts over this, and even Bear ... all three run around like they have rabies (which is what we chant when they get all hyper and dancing, 'Rabies! Rabies!' and they seem to get even crazier hearing that!!!) Blitz enjoys going after the yarn end of the toy, a trait he shares with his two feline sisters... Small Tissue Packs (pocket sized) Yet another trend Bear started ... Those small pocket tissue packs are all over the house; in the Box Fort in the ferret room, all three cages, under the couch, in drawers, etc... Tubes, clear, soft, or hard shell! All six ferrets LOVE tubes! Soft tubes, hard tubes, paper, plastic, etc.. If it is a tube, they will play in it, with it, around it, through it, and even sleep in it... Plastic Bags (grocery store kind) NOT THE CLINGY KIND, the grocery store kind! The noise, the feel, and the general fun that a simple plastic grocery store bag can offer is priceless ... Basil, Bandit, and Raven in particular have fun with bags... Basil especially, as he will leap like a basketball player to catch a plastic bag while playing ... we throw them in the air and Basil's eyes light up while he jumps up towards the plastic bag, coming down repetitively on it to get the air bubbles out (so it seems..) Jingly On A Stick : An Interactive Ferret Toy Also doubles as a cat toy! Raven, Bear, and Bandit particularly enjoy chasing this hairy, jingle toy pulled by the interested party. They jump, run, scamper, and otherwise frantically dive for the toy. It seems that is the best part, as they seem to not know what to do after catching it! Cardboard Boxes Our ferrets sleep in boxes and play in boxes! James built a six - box ferret fort which acts as a castle to sleep in, play in and around, store things, run through, and hide in ... |
FERRET HABITATS : see the Extreme Weezils' Habitat page for their setup
Ferrets LOVE to sleep! They sleep about 15 hours a day, every day. So, one can imagine that they enjoy a warm snuggly place to do so along with their fellow weezils ...
The Cube
This seems to be the Extreme Weezils' favorite place to sleep, even if it means all six of them trying to fit in one cube. It is lined with fleece and flannel with a soft outside, connected to the cage with metal hooks that have no sharp edges. The Hammock
A must-have for every ferret cage, hammies [fert slang for hammock] come in all shapes, sizes, and fabrics. We have three hammocks, each made of different material: one home crocheted with colored yarn, one made of soft combed fleece, and one of brushed synthetic fabric in a cow pattern [aka 'The Cow Hammock.'] The Cheese Log Actually called a Ferret Castle, this cube - like ferret sleeper / habitat has two openings and can be hooked lengthwise or widthwise, or even placed on the floor for the weezils to crawl in and out of, play in, or nap in. You can use our nickname for it, [The Cheese Log] or make one up yourself .... ;) The Fuzz Log This long furry - textured tube is just an elongated combed - fleece shell that can hang via a wire cage by two smooth metal hooks. We have one brown one, which hangs above the fleece hammock in the smallest of three ferret cages, and one green one, which sits on the floor and is used for playing in, sleeping in, and crawling in and out of. Fleece We purchase sheets of this magical material and use it to line all the shelves, the wire stairways, and any other wire or rough surface in the ferret cages. It is very soft, comfortable, and can be machine washed using the gentle cycle a few times before having to be replaced. A note of caution: make sure the fleece covering is securely hooked to all surfaces it is supposed to be covering, as accidents are likely to happen with exposed wire in ferret cages [reading about ferret toes, claws, and other various little ferrety bodyparts getting caught in wire in cages has done enough to make me careful for life!] |
Marshall Farms Premium Choice ... Endorsed wholeheartedly by the Extreme Weezils! They have all tried half a dozen brands of ferret kibble and prefer this one... Kept in a small amount for variety Litter:

Snacks: These rubber - textured, tasty treats fall in and out of favor, but always can be found in one hidey-hole or another.... Ferretone Guaranteed to make all six ferrets come out of hiding from even a dead sleep, Ferretone is the staple snack, vitamin supplement, and treat for almost all ferrets everywhere.... FerretLax When we got our first ferrets (Bear and Bandit) we did not think we would need this product. Wow, were we wrong! They need consistent 'coaxing' to rid their little sensitive bodies of furballs and other foreign objects inevitably eaten ... Nutrical / FuroVite A thick, pasty treat, supplement, and reward, these products provide the calories and vitamins that ferrets who may not eat well or are sick.... 8 in 1 Pro Ferret Snacks Also makes 8 in 1 Pro Ultimate food and is almost as tasty, according to the Extreme Weezils. Every ferret but Bear and Basil love these multi-colored crunchy snacks and will come running from any hiding place when the can is shaken. This is a great addition to our ferrets' training repetorie, used as an alternative to the squeak toy Booda Bunny
'Ferrets For Dummies' by Kim Schilling Ferret tested, ferret approved: they have all taken turns walking over the book, through it, sleeping on it, and even scootching over it ... 'Biology and Diseases of the Ferret' by James G. Fox, second edition |
