will eventually find a way to get around your supposed ferret-proofed areas, despite your own satisfaction that you did the perfect job
There always seems to be some sort of forgotten plant or item left out where the ferrets can get at it, or the ferrets magically become able to reach the seemingly unreachable.

are NOT cage animals and should be confined to their cage as little as possible, allowing for a
minimum of four hours of play time outside cage per day, supervised, in a ferret - proofed area
This is one of the biggest mistakes ferret owners seem to be making. Caging a ferret for too many hours in a day leads to a bored ferret; responsible for bad behaviors such as biting, nipping, cloth chewing, cage biting, and digging in the litter or food containers. Allowing a ferret to be caged for too long equates to abuse, despite your best intentions ...

require a high level of intellectual stimulation as they are highly intellegent animals, comparible to cats and dogs say a few studies
This means you have to really be clever to outsmart a ferret if you do not want him getting into something. They have an uncanny ability to get bored seemingly in relation to how much a toy costs: the more money you spend on something, the less interested the ferret is in it, and vice versa. Of course this works only if you don't have obscene amounts of money lying around needing to be spent, in which case it wouldn't drive us all so crazy and therefore not done by said ferret.
